— An Aurora pharmacy degree that is being touted as an opportunity to get into a pharma industry is being criticized by some who say the degree is a sham and that some students have not taken the course.
It is unclear whether students in the pharmacy program are registered with the state.
The degree, a pharmacy master’s degree in pharmacy, will be available to those who take it at a pharmacy.
Aurora has a pharmacy industry of about 25,000 employees and more than 5,000 pharmacists.
“I just think it is a scam,” said Laura C. Pascucci, an Aurora resident and mother of three who is enrolled in the program.
Pascucci said she is a registered nurse, but is not an employee.
The degree is designed to help students become pharmacists and will be free, she said.
The pharmacy program is free to students who are not enrolled in an industry-recognized master’s program.
The Aurora-based Aurora Pharmacists Association (APSA) has raised concerns about the program and says the state does not require the degree.
Aurora spokesman Scott Dyer said the degree program is being offered through the state Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and not through the Aurora pharmacy school.
The association says in its newsletter that it will investigate the program if it receives a complaint.
Pascuda, who lives in the small Colorado town of Aurora, said she does not feel the degree gives her the opportunity to advance her career.
“I don’t think it will give you the knowledge that I need,” she said of the degree, which is aimed at students with pharmacists’ certifications.
“I think it’s a waste of money.”
The Aurora Association of Pharmacists says the degree has been approved for use by a number of states.
APSA says it will monitor the program’s implementation and will review any complaints received.
An APSA representative said the association has not received a complaint regarding the program yet.
Some Aurora residents say the pharmacy degree is not required to get a job.
Laura Pascuci, an insurance agent who is in the Aurora program, said the program is not the right choice for her.
She said her parents are not able to pay for the pharmacy license because of the lack of insurance.
In addition to the pharmacy training, Aurora has the largest number of pharmacists in the state, according to the APSA. “
And if I can’t get my own insurance, then I don’t know how I’m going to make it.”
In addition to the pharmacy training, Aurora has the largest number of pharmacists in the state, according to the APSA.
APSA also says the program helps boost Aurora’s economy.
The state is working on a proposal to create a pharmacy program.
